Class Information & Schedule
Reading
Independent reading has been proven to be the #1 practice that helps increase reading skills and abilities. This increases background knowledge, as well as extends vocabulary. Students should have an independent book with them at all times. Accelerated Reader (A. R.) point goals are calculated for students each trimester based on independent reading level and reading for 30 minutes per day. A.R. tests will only be taken in English Language Arts classrooms under teacher supervision. The A.R. grades will only be updated in the Aeries portal program four times during a trimester grading period. There will be cutoff dates for 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of trimester goals and these grades will be entered shortly after the cutoff date.
Homework Policy
Routine homework consists of daily reading (30 minutes or more) of self-directed, level appropriate A.R. books. Other homework will be on an as needed basis if work has not been completed in class.
If you feel that your child is spending too much or too little time on their assignments, please let me know so I can work with your child toward a solution. Please work with your child to stay on top of long-term projects.
