Class Newsletter

Dear Students and Families,
First and foremost, I hope each and every one of you are doing well!
Secondly, I apologize if it feels like I've abandoned you.  You have all been on my mind, each and every day.  I've wanted to reach out many times.  So here I am...just wanting to check in.
If you didn't do much last week, it's ok.  I know there were a few who got started on keeping on with their learning, and that's great too!  There was an extensive list of links to great resources and videos in all areas of learning sent out by the district administration on the Bear River webpage!  I hope you take the time to explore some of them, both the core subjects and the "electives."  It is truly amazing what is available at your fingertips in the comfort of your home!
A few parents have reached out asking what I recommend for students in my class to work on.  Here is what I suggest:
1)  Moby Max:  This is probably my main recommendation.  We have all used this program.  What's great about it is you are familiar with it and it knows you!  It will have you work on areas you tested on and needed more practice with.  Remember, it offers help if you keep getting stuck.
2) Edmentum: This is still really new to me and most of you.  Some of you may have used this last summer, and some of you completed your assessment in the fall.  If you did finish it, you can try this program.  I believe it is similar to Moby Max in that it will provide practice on skills you tested lower on.  I would love to hear from you if you do use this!  Our school is looking into using this more so than Moby Max in the future, so you could be a voice that helps us learn about it.
3) Specific Skills:  If you're looking for specific skills, I say start with the basics.  Practice your multiplication facts, subtraction with borrowing, decimal and fraction operations, and operations with negative numbers.  If you have those down, then you can work on solving equations (what we've been working on), percents, inequalities, and rates/ratios/proportions.  You could just enter the skill into Google or You Tube and get a list of many good sites and videos!
When the time is right and it works for you, I hope you will spend some time developing your skills and continuing your learning.  I wish I knew when we will be together again, but I do look forward to that day.  I would love to hear from you now and then!  Please feel free to send me an email now and then.  mluevano@wheatland.k12.ca.us
Until next time, be good and  take care.  I'll be thinking of you!
